What is coaching?

Coaching is a conversation, usually between two people.  The coach and the client.  There’s time to think.  No hurry to speak.  Coaching lets you get to know yourself better, or find yourself again if you feel you’ve lost your way.  It helps you find your purpose, set your goals and learn how to make things happen.  A Coach uses models and techniques to unlock your thoughts and potentials.  But most of all a Coach will listen and ask questions.  You have the answers.  You really do!

What's the difference between coaching, counselling and therapy?

Coaching, counselling and therapy all involve a confidential conversation.  The main difference is that coaching focuses on the present and the future.  Counselling and therapy focus on the past.  Conversations in coaching might touch on the past but only to see how it can help in the future.

You should let your Coach know if you are in any kind of counselling or therapy so they can think how the coaching fits with other interventions.  Coaching is not a substitute for counselling or therapy but it can work alongside it.

What's the first step?

Book a free 45 minute introductory call on Skype or on the phone here

What happens in the introductory call?

I’ll ask what brings you to coaching to get an idea of what you’re looking for help with.  We find out a bit about each other.  It’s really important that you get the right Coach for you so you get to ask me questions too.  After the call you decide whether you want to continue to work with me.  There’s no obligation.

Do I need to prepare anything before we speak?

No, not unless you want to.  Just be ready to talk to me about what’s important to you.

If I want to have coaching how much will it cost?

I offer your first 45 minute introductory session absolutely free.

If you want to work with me after that I offer a six session coaching package.  My fees are £540 for six sessions paid in advance.    Each session is around an hour long.  A payment plan is available on request.

Why six sessions?

Six sessions is the right number of sessions to start to make a difference for you and to bring about some change.

Can I book a single session?

I offer single top-up sessions to existing clients.

How long does a coaching session last?

Each session lasts for about an hour.

What happens in a coaching session?

We meet up face to face, on the phone or online.  You tell me how you want to use the session and we agree the outcome and we take it from there. There isn’t a set structure to a session.

Where do we meet?

I work with clients face to face (depending on geography), online (Skype or Zoom), or on the phone.

For workplace coaching I can offer coaching in the workplace.

How often do sessions happen?

We can talk about the frequency of sessions in our introductory call.  Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly, once every three weeks or over a longer period.  It depends what it is you want to work on and what your goal is.

Can I contact you outside of our sessions?

Yes, it’s fine to get in touch between sessions by email or text.  I’ll always try and get back to you within 24 hours – or on Monday if you get in touch over the weekend.

How do I book sessions?

I give you a direct link to my calendar to book your sessions in, in the same way that you book your introductory call.

When are sessions available?

I offer coaching weekdays including some evening sessions.  We can talk about when sessions would be best for you in our introductory call.

Do I get homework?

Sometimes and only if we both agree that there’s something that you could work on or think about between sessions that would be helpful.

What kind of coach are you?

I’m calm and patient.  I listen and ask lots of questions.  Sometimes I will ask challenging questions.  I use coaching models and techniques – these vary for every client depending what we are working on.

Can I speak to you before I book a session?

I offer a free 45 minute introductory call.  If that’s too big a step for you just now then drop me an email and we can start an email conversation to get to know each other a bit better.

Is there anything that we can’t talk about?

I’m happy to explore what’s important for you.  If I feel something isn’t appropriate, if I’m not able to help you or I feel you need more specialist help or advice then I will tell you.

Is what we talk about confidential?

I maintain 100% confidentiality to the fullest extent of the law, and so long as I don’t fear for you or another’s safety.

What kind of people do you work with?

People like you and me. If you feel you need to make a change in any aspect of your life or work, and you are committed to making a change, then coaching is for you.

Can I afford coaching?

Only you know that.  But if you’ve carried on reading until now I would ask if you can afford not to.

If you can’t afford my fees then we can talk about it.  I commit to working with at least one client at a time at reduced fee depending on their circumstances.  And I also offer a payment plan.  So don’t let that put you off getting in touch.
