In need of a Spring clean?

In need of a Spring clean?

I love the Spring. It’s my favourite season. I like the lighter mornings and the longer days and the promise of Summer to come.

It’s all about new growth, beginnings and hope.

Mostly!

I also find that the different light shines on things that I’ve neglected over the Winter.

Like the dirty windows. Or the garden. The outside paintwork. The dilapidated garden fence. Or that pile of stuff in the corner that I don’t need anymore and I really need to throw away.

Winter can really take it’s toll on things.

All of a sudden everything can look a bit grubby and uncared for. There’s a long list of jobs that need doing.  It can feel a bit overwhelming.

We talk about Spring cleaning and I guess that’s what it’s all about. Giving everything a good old spruce up and sort out once a year.

It got me thinking. What’s the equivalent of that for life in general? Do you ever Spring clean your life?

What’s your life equivalent of the pile of stuff in the corner that you don’t need any more.  What is it that you’ve collected or accumulated that’s of no longer of use?

Or the dirty windows that you can hardly see through?  What might you be missing?

Or the dilapidated garden fence or rickety gate that needs replacing?  Where do you need to re-establish your boundaries or make some new ones?

What in your life needs refurbishing?

What’s showing wear in your life?

I had a major Spring clean in my life a couple of years ago.  I got rid of quite a few things and made space for the new.

Even so I still collect and accumulate things, habits, ways of thinking that I don’t really need – and my life still needs a bit of a Spring clean every year.

When was the last time you did that?
