Should I persevere or quit?

Should I persevere or quit?

A couple of years ago I planted a lavender border in my garden.  I’m not much of a gardener but I do like it to look nice and I saw a picture on Pinterest which appealed!

The border is really struggling and looking a bit sorry for itself.  Some of the plants have died and I’ve replaced them more than a couple of times.  I have to decide what to do with it next.

My dilemma is – should I persevere with it or just give it up as a bad job?  The problem is I’m not very good at quitting.  I don’t like to admit defeat.

My thinking goes a bit like this.  Perhaps I’ve not given it enough time. Perhaps I’ve not provided the conditions it needs to thrive.   Perhaps I’ve neglected it a bit.  Is there something I should have been doing that I don’t know about?

But how much effort do you put into something that just isn’t working?

Is it brave or foolish to carry on trying?  When do you know when you’re done?

It’s a dilemma that comes up for me with other areas of my life too – not just with lavender!

How about you?

Is there something in your life that you’re not sure whether to persevere with?

Do you just crash on regardless or do you know when to call it a day?

If this is something you’d like to talk about then I’m offering you 30 minutes of my time.

(We don’t have to talk about gardening!)
